Audiolibro - El Libro de la selva - La historia comienza cuando, huyendo del ataque de Shere Khan (el tigre), dos esposos pierden a su hijo pequeno. Este aparece en la cueva de unos lobos (Ramma y Raksha) quienes no solo lo salvan de las garras de Shere Khan, sino que a su vez lo acogen como a su propio hijo. Raksha lo llama «Mowgli» ?''la rana'', dado que no tiene pelo? y lo hace de su familia. Mowgli es entonces presentado en el Consejo de Roca, maximo organo deliberativo de la manada de lobos, para que sea aceptado como tal. El Consejo es liderado por Akela que dice que, tal como marca la Ley de la Selva, algo tiene que ser ofrecido para salvar su vida y ser aceptado, por lo que Bagheera (la pantera negra que ensena a los lobatos a cazar) ofrece a la manada un buey que recien ha matado. Asi, Mowgli pasa a formar parte de la manada de lobos.
