This book argues that no member of any national legislative body across the globe should enjoy special immunity from the criminal justice system.

More than 70% of the world’s nations spell out clearly in their constitutions or in legislation that members of their parliaments or national assemblies are protected from the criminal process in various ways: they may not be prosecuted, or detained, or arrested without prior consent of the parliament or the assembly in which they sit. This is called parliamentary inviolability.
