The MyBody Android application has two functions:
1. To calculate Body Mass Index (BMI)
2. To calculate Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) to determine daily calories requirement.
About Body Mass Index (BMI)
Body Mass Index (BMI) is used to estimate a healthy body weight based on a person's height. Body Mass Index (BMI) is the most widely used diagnostic tool to identify weight problem such as underweight, overweight or obese.
With MyBody application, Android phone users can calculate the Body Mass Index (BMI) with a given weight and height. Enter the weight (Kilogram) and height (Meter) of any person and this Android application will identify whether you are:
1. Ideal
2. Underweight
3. Overweight
4. Obese
MyBody application will use a metric formula which will be in Kilogram (kg) and Meter (m) respectively to calculate the Body Mass Index (BMI).
About Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)
BMR stands for Basal Metabolic Rate. BMR can be used to calculate a person's daily calories requirement. Your Body Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the amount of energy your body needs to function. The factors that affect your BMR is height, weight, age and sex.
The BMR calculator is based on Harris Benedict Equation formula. Once you know the number of calories needed to maintain your weight, you can easily calculate the number of calories you need to eat in order to gain or lose weight.
MyBody application will adopt a metric formula to calculate your BMR. You need to enter the information in Kilogram and Meter to calculate the formula. You also need to identify your activity factor such as Sedentary, Lightly Active, Moderately Active or Very Active
