DSlife 3.5 Based on the old school cellular automaton "game", Conway's Game of Life, developer Jeremy Ruten a.k.a. Elektro_Plankton delivers the well-known life simulator to the Nintendo DS handheld with DSlife.
The latest build of the homebrew game, version 3.5, adds several new features designed to create even more varied patterns when designing your living and dead cell states.
Here's the rundown of all the new additions since our previous coverage of DSlife:
* Save and load patterns in the life 1.06 format. (Comes with 2 patterns.)
* Lets you erase tiles by pressing an eraser button and then erasing with the stylus.
* The keyboard for entering rules now only includes valid rules characters: digits 0 through 8 and slash.
* Bottom screen shows the current number of live cells (as well as the current generation).
* Source code is liscensed under the GNU GPL.
As always, don't forget to read up on the homebrew game's documentation on how to install and use its various controls. Other homebrew developers interested in checking out how DSlife works can also download the source code through the link we've provided in the main article.
