SoundSeeing Vienna . Karlskirche - For a long time there was nothing here except forest, forest, and ? forest. The Belvedere district, a chic and elegant neighborhood crowned with the Karlskirche, was developed only at the end of the 17th century. The church was the fulfillment of a promise by the Emperor when the city was finally purged of the plague epidemic. If you listen carefully to the audio guide, then you will understand why it is called a plague church.
