Bhagavat Gita - The Blessed Lord's Song: The Bhagavadgītā, was composed about two thousand years ago and is generally considered to be the most beautiful religious writing in India. Since it is part of the epic the Mahābhārata (see Mahābhārata), the Gītā is technically smṛti (see smṛti) or traditional literature rather than śruti (see śruti), or revealed sacramental text. In effect, however, the Bhagavadgītā has attained the level of śruti. More than any other Hindu text, it is consulted as a source of truth and wisdom.
