Plinkey Tuner - This app plays the open-string note for 8 different stringed instruments: violin, mandolin, viola, cello, guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, and bluegrass banjo. Select the instrument, then press one of the keys:
A - S - D - F - G - H
to play the note (low to high, or left to right, in the case of the uke.) G & H are for 5- and 6-string instruments.
Listen on the BlackBerry® speaker or through ear buds or STEREO Bluetooth. May be amplified using earphone output. The note plays continuously until stopped or another key is pressed for a different string. Instructions are included.
Plinkey Tuner is a part of Plinkey Deluxe, which includes Plinkey Metronome, Plinkey for Practice, Plinkey for Rehearsal and Plinkey Virtual Piano, plus other tools. Tuner and Metronome are free. The others are available at a low price. Get Plinkey Deluxe, the Choir Singing Buddy, and Stay on Key.
Note: except for the Virtual Piano, these tools all have a text-based interface because they are used with a tactile keyboard while singing, so you are normally not looking at the screen.
