Salat - Praying at the proper time
"Once the Prophet was asked:'Tell us, which action is dearest to Allah?' He answered:'To say your prayer at its proper time.' " (Ibn Masad: Bukhari)
This Hadith inspired the creation of Salat for our fellow Muslim brothers and sisters.
Salat computes prayer times based on your location in the world. If your BlackBerry is equipped with a GPS, Salat will update prayer times automatically as you travel from one location to another. If your BlackBerry is not equipped with a GPS, you can update your location using the embedded mapping function*.
Salat will provide provides you with the following times:
» Fajr (Dawn Prayer)
» Shuruq (Sunrise - end of Fajr Prayer)
» Dhuhr (Noon Prayer)
» Asr (Mid-afternoon Prayer)
» Maghrib (Sunset Prayer)
» Isha (Nightfall Prayer)
Praying in the right direction
Salat also comes with a Qiblah feature* that indicates the direction to the Kabba in Mecca wherever you are in the world. Simply locate your position on the map, and the Qiblah direction will be indicated with an arrow.
*Qiblah and position selection features depend on Blackberry maps, and will only work where Blackberry maps works. If you have GPS, Salat can still find your location and calculate prayer times with or without Blackberry maps. Note that you must agree to let Salat access your Location API for it to work.
· Calculates correct prayer times based on GPS or manually selected locations (requires Blackberry maps or GPS)
· Displays correct Qiblah direction anywhere in the world (requires Blackberry maps)
· Alarms at prayer times with built in prayer call, flashing green LED and vibrate. All alarm settings configurable.
· With GPS enabled, updates your prayer times automatically as you move around the globe.
