Ananse: The Pots of Wisdom - Ghanaian folktales and proverbs have been around and part of the vibrant African culture even before documenting of history. Among the Akans, the Spider has been used as a great mischief maker and wise creature as well as a crafty miser through whom stories are told to advice youth and generations.
Once upon a time, man got proud of his Wisdom and thought he might try to be like Onyame the Sky God and live independent of Him. So Onyame divided Man’s wisdom into 5 parts and placed 4 in Nyansa pots. The pots were hidden at unknown places and were protected by the mighty Eagles. Creatures of all kinds set on a mission to find the pots. Among them was the craftiest of all - Kweku Ananse the Spider, who intended to find the pots and consume all the wisdom so he could rule the animal Kingdom.
