With nearly 15,000 acres of vineyards — 2,000 of which are dedicated to wine grapes — Michigan is the fourth largest grape-growing state and the eighth in wine grape production nationwide, according to the Michigan Grape & Wine Industry Council. The commercial wineries together produce more than 1 million gallons of wine annually, the majority of which comes from Michigan-grown grapes.
