Berkeley Essential Guide - Berkeley, California, is known primarily for three things--its Gourmet Ghetto food mystique, its liberal and progressive political culture (going back to the 1960s, but continuing today), and its world-class university, UC Berkeley. Lee Foster provides in this application everything you'll want to know to enjoy and experience the City of Berkeley as a traveler or as a local.
This app is organized with several strategies. First, there is an A-Z list of 120 entries, sites and experiences that Lee considers the best of Berkeley. If you've heard of the famous Chez Panisse restaurant, founded by Alice Waters, and want to learn more, it's easy to find Chez Panisse in the alphabetical list.
All the entries are also organized by Neighborhood. Berkeley offers several distinctive districts, such as the Gourmet Ghetto of North Shattuck. Other special neighborhoods include the UC Berkeley Area, Downtown/Arts District, Elmwood, Fourth Street, Solano Avenue, Telegraph Avenue, The Hills, and West Berkeley. All the 400-plus photos in the app are by Lee.
