We've partnered with a photographer whose work is included in major operating systems and whose photos are among the most popular wallpaper images in the world. Only the best images have been selected, and each is carefully optimized for the iPad screen.
Most wallpaper images are created to fit a single screen size and orientation. But because the iPad works well in both portrait and landscape orientations, many traditional images fall apart when they are automatically cropped.
For Nature Images HD, we went into the archives and started over with original, full-resolution, RAW files (like digital negatives) from the photographer. Along with new exposure, noise reduction, color, and contrast enhancements, each image has been cropped, sized, sharpened, and tested to ensure that the final composition works well in both orientations. All of the images have unique characteristics, so very little of this process could be automated, and labor-intensive manual adjustments were required to produce the highest quality results.
Last, each image is sized to take full advantage of every pixel on the iPad screen. As a result, no automatic resizing is necessary, and the quality of each image is maintained.
Once an image is selected, it is easily saved to the Photo Album where it can be set as Wallpaper (instructions are included).
