The Nouns 101 module adds a basic vocabulary to Version 5 of the MobiLearn(R) English-French-German-Italian-Spanish Talking Phrasebook. These nouns are the names of people, places, and things most essential to everyday conversation. When this add-on module is installed on a Pocket PC that contains the required Talking Phrasebook, Nouns 101 becomes a new subcategory under the Conversation category. This is one in a series of six Nouns add-ons which are arranged roughly as they would be in a three-year sequence of academic semesters: 101, 102, 201, 202, 301, 302. Altogether, these six add-ons contain over 1,000 essential vocabulary words. For greatest efficiency, we recommend that you install this program on a CF or SD storage card.

How It Works

Suppose you want to learn to say "grandmother" in Spanish:

1. On the home screen, select English-Spanish as the (From)-(To) languages.
2. Tap the Conversation icon.
3. In the Conversation list, tap the Nouns 101 category.
4. Scroll through the Nouns 101 word list and tap "grandmother."

You'll see the Spanish equivalent, "la abuela," in the gold translation window. To hear it out loud, tap the translation window. Then just repeat what you hear to pronounce the term in natural Spanish. To do the same in German, select English-German, then repeat the steps you followed for Spanish. You'll see the parallel German noun, "die Großmutter," in the gold translation window. To hear it out loud, tap the translation window. You can do likewise to hear and speak the equivalent French and Italian nouns. To translate in the other direction--say, German to English--select German-English as the (From)-(To) languages, then proceed in the same way.

This add-on module requires the MobiLearn Talking Phrasebook (English-French-German-Italian-Spanish), Version 5.0 or higher, as a foundation.
